haha okay,
so its a gorgeous video for sure, but thats pretty much ALL it is! there are only a few different settings in it, the castle and the field, only two characters in it, and most of the time its nothing but taylor just sitting being pretty, or walking around being pretty, or with her "romeo" being pretty... or with a HORSE being pretty (i don't like horses). there were a few really nice scenes but they were the pretty typical "nice scenes". in general as maybe you see now, there is a verrrry low level of creativity and originality in the video. in the end what my score comes down to is kind of about how much i'd want to have the video in my ipod and how often i'd want to watch it. in my opinion, i'd get bored VERY easily by this video. there are some videos that scored higher just on being pretty, but they usually have a # of set changes and outfit changes, are probably more high fashion pretty (you know how i like it ;p ), or in some way are more innovative. in the end, these are all just my opinion and i know there will be some fat disagreements, buuuut that's kind of what makes it fun =) what would you have rated it?

I retract my previous wall post. While it's true that "love story" is a whole lot of pretty with little substance, and it may possibly deserve the 4 you've given it, i think you should evaluate all music videos with the same criteria.
Case in point: "I hate this part" - PCD. rating: 7.4
If the horse in "love story" is bad, then SURELY the deer in "I hate this part" is bad, too. And if the deer is not equal to the horse, then I would have to assert that the deer PLUS the wolf most certainly do equal the horse. In addition, "I hate this part" similarly only contains two real scenes. Nicole playing piano in the desert and the five girls dancing in a junkyard in the desert (closeups of the girls lying on cars/pianos/...pinball machines (...i know, right?) in aforementioned scenes do not count as separate scenes).
Furthermore, if the gratuitous pretty girl, pretty boy, pretty everything lowers the value of "love story," then I must point out that PCD dancing in lingerie in the rain surpasses "love story" and enters into the realm of gratuitous sexiness, which is quite possibly worse than gratuitous prettiness. And, finally, the song itself MUST contribute a little to the overall ranking of the video, so...

in general i also felt that "love story" was pretty... but boring. like i really have no desire to ever see it again. and the pretty was kind of always the same. youre kind of always seeing taylor's face at the same angle. "i hate this part" is something that i do want to watch a few times over. it had some choreography, different angles of the girls, and pretty much the overall vibe i just got from it was more attractive. i liked the whites and light blues and purples and light pinks. it was a pretty, slow but exciting video... maybe it was the pinball machines. hahah hey one mans trash is another man's treasure!
(and i might have been slightly biased because i'm kind of in love with the pussycat dolls.. hahaha)

where as taylor swifts are "prince" "princess" "love story"...
i'm pretty sure the five year old is coming up with taylor's lyrics

also, there's a fine line between gratuity and...not, which I don't think (in my opinion) the PCD crossed in this video. Sex sells and this was just about enough, and done hmm seemingly well given that it IS pcd.
